You know I had been training myself in the gym and running outside for an upcoming marathon. But the fact is, I will have to postpone it until next year. All because my calf muscle is still healing after being pulled. This is disappointing as I had been looking forward to doing the marathon. My calf seemed to be getting better and I am able to run short distances, but I still feel the pain. And I do not want to injure it more. That makes me decide to accept it and let it heal.
So now instead of running, I have more time to exercise, cycle to train clients, and stretch out. And to help speed the process of getting better, I put ice on my calf and keep athletic therapeutic tape on it.
Similar to this we all deal with issues. But we cannot let that give us a reason not to work out other ways. Maybe we had a recent shoulder injury; but we could still work out our legs, abs, biceps and triceps. Just make due with what you can work out.
Or your lower back is in pain; then just work out your chest and arms on seated exercise machines, legs exercises with seated machines, and do cardio on a recumbent bike. You do have the ability to work out around minor pain areas.
Then maybe your setback is “I am not part of a gym and do not own any weights”. Again, exercises over your full body can be done without weights. You just need to learn them. There are so many reasons why a person is able to work out.
But the question is, are you going to do it? Or are you going to have a reason why you can’t?
I will see you in the gym.
