Just this last week, I was in London for a few days. It was a great trip. My wife and I did many things, but one of the best times we had was running in the Vitality London 10,000. It was a 10K race, and a new way to see the capital of England while on vacation.
Usually when we were on the streets, we were going from one spot to another by walking, taking the tube, or getting a cab. But when running the Vitality, I got to explore London in a new way. The streets weren’t crowded with tourists, people going to work, or cars going by. I was able to see historical statues, sculptures honoring soldiers men and women of WWII, and landmarks. These were landmarks such as Buckingham Palace, the Admiralty Arch, Nelson’s Column, Big Ben, the Bank of England, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and Westminster Abbey. It was a view of London like no other.
I believe when you are on vacation anywhere, you should take some time to do some form of physical activity similar to this. Maybe an adventure that is fun and may require some physical excursion. That way during your vacation you can say you didn’t just walk around and look in museums. With the activity, your eyes and mind will be awake to what’s around you. Doing this you might explore parks, hike, take a bike trek, or go swimming in a lake for example. It would make memories of your trip so much more enjoyable.
Keep it on your mind next time you are going on vacation. There sure are so many recreational events going on over this summer. What are you planning to do?
